Coaching Objectives

Players need to open up their body to the pitch so they can see their opponents and their teammates. With open shoulders player can receive on their back foot which makes it easier to change direction when the receive the ball making it easier to go forward and attack the opposition goal.

Technique Tips

  • Instruct players to scan the field and check their shoulder before receiving the ball to assess the position of opponents and teammates.
  • Encourage players to use the outside of the foot or cushion the ball with the sole to control it effectively.

We are looking for support and movement with rotation of players. 

Split into three zones with two outer zones of 15 yards and an inner zone of 10 yards. In the first zone there are 3 possession players and 1 pressing player, in the middle zone 2 possession and 1 defender and just a possession player in the end zone.
