Possession Rondo style

Difficulty

Possession is a key attribute of successful teams. A great way to get young players up to speed with possession is using drills like Rondos. In Rondos players concentrate on the game or they make mistakes and end up being the player in the middle.

Coaching Objectives

Keeping the ball one touch under pressure works on player reactions, anticipation, ball skills, passing and receiving.

Set up with 6 possession players on the outside of the area and 2 players on the inside.

Drill Setup

  • 15 Mins
  • 8 Players

Technique Tips

First touch key to control and passing the ball to keep possession.

Players should be looking around to see where the space is before they receive the ball so they can pass quickly into a player in space.
