Confident Goalkeeper

Reacting to different balls helps the goalkeeper to be confident when the match starts and do the simple things well

  • 10 Mins
  • Pairs Players
  • 2 Goals
  • 30 x 40 y

What the Players Do

Keeper Clears Backpass

If your goalkeeper can see a pass out to a teammate it is much better to keep possession with a good pass rather than a big kick upfield.

Coaching Objectives

When receiving a backpass you want your keeper to look for a pass that will keep possession for your team.

Set up around the penalty area with a goalkeeper, a target player either side of the penalty area, a server and an opposition forward

Drill Setup

  • 10 Mins
  • 5 Players
  • 1 Goals
  • 1 Bibs
  • Penalty Box y

What the Players Do

The server sets up 5 yards from the D of the penalty area with a pressing attacker just in front. The server passes back to the keeper and the forward goes to press. The keeper should pass out to the…
