Coaching Objectives

One team is attacking in a normal way with the focus on scoring goals by creating space in front of the goal to exploit, while at the other end scoring is receiving the ball across the pitch so the players attacking this end can make use of switching play, good through balls and attacking skills.

Develop players' ability to maintain possession under pressure, improve passing precision, and enhance movement off the ball to receive passes in space.

Drill Setup

  • 25 Mins
  • 11 Players
  • 1 Goals
  • 4 Bibs
  • 50 x 40 y

Technique Tips

  • Passing: Use accurate, crisp passes to ensure the ball reaches the intended player.
  • Movement: Constantly move to create passing lanes and support the ball carrier.

  • Communication: Use verbal and non-verbal cues to indicate when and where to pass.

What the Players Do

Set up the game so that it is a 5v5 with the team defending the big goal using one player as the goalkeeper while the other team defends the end zone across the pitch. To score in the end zone…

Move to the Pass

In this warm up the players dribble, pass then move to receive the ball. It helps with balance and agility before a game

Coaching Objectives

Moving after the pass is a key part of a possession game. If players pass then do not move to support the pass it leads to moves breaking down.

  • Squad Players
  • 10 x 10 y

Midfield Link Players

Midfielders can link defensive passes with effective attacks by driving into the opposition's half and passing with conviction

Coaching Objectives

Skilful midfielders can win the ball in midfield or receive a pass from a defender and drive into the opposition half to set up attackers with good passing to put them through on goal.
