Coaching Objectives

This drill is designed to develop players’ understanding and execution of third man combinations, using central link players (jokers) to break lines and create forward momentum. It improves timing of runs, awareness, and decision-making in possession while reinforcing quick attacking transitions. Players also learn to play with offside awareness, improving movement, timing, and spatial recognition in advanced areas.

Jokers must play clean, well-weighted lay-offs.
  • Scanning:
Players must check shoulders before receiving to identify space.
  • Explosive Movement:
Break into the next phase with speed and intent.
  • Communication:
Verbal and visual cues help coordinate movements.
