This drill looks at strikers linking up and combining play in the attacking third of the pitch. It's all about communicating, combining and support play.

Coaching Objectives

Coach your strikers to receive the ball and link up in a creative way to create goal-scoring chances using quick forward passing to destroy defences.

Set up with a 15 yard central zone bookended with two 10 yard zones and end zones of 5 yards. Two teams of 5 plus a keeper set up so 3 players are in the central zone and 2 strikers are at the attacking end of the pitch in the 10 yard zones.

What the Players Do

Play starts with a pass from the coach into the central area where teams are playing 3v3. The idea is to keep possession of the ball for 3 passes then get it to the two attackers who combine to score.…
