The players need to be open to the through ball from their teammate so need to move into the box as play develops to be in a position to receive it.

Pay attention to the passes and the speed which the ball circulates at. Never lose control over the speed of the ball, speed up or slow down the ball’s speed. Timing of the pass is key to how the player receives the ball whether a through ball for the player to run on to. The most accurate pass will be with the side foot after making the turn from a good first touch.

The target players also need a good first touch to control the pass from the working player.
