In this warm up the idea is for players to pass and control the ball with speed and accuracy focusing on player movement and player position.
Coaching Objectives
- Good first touch to keep ball moving
- Create passing lines
- Body shape to receive ball on back foot
- Try to make diagonal passes as during a match if players use diagonal passing it is more difficult to defend
- Left and right feet should be in action
- Look for one touch passing but if the player needs an extra touch allow it
- Keep control of the speed of the ball, – look for a good tempo to the passing. Losing control of the speed makes it harder to control and can lead to loss of possession
- Good passes are on the ground not up in the air or bouncing along
- Try using different numbers of balls to make the drill harder
